SAP ECC 6 Basis 702 ugrade

Hi, I’m new to SCN and Sap in general (Hopefully I found a decent spot for this post).  I will be developing in ABAP and would like to use eclipse if possible as I’m told new development is being done to support it and SAP is moving in this direction. We currently have SAP ECC 605 with SAP_BASIS 702 which I’m told does not support eclipse development (also see http://scn.sap.com/thread/339419) In a recent SAP class it was suggested that the Basis team can install EHP6 and only activate the BASIS and ABAP content to minimize the time spent on our testing for possible effects on our system. Is this a feasible solution or would it be necessary to do the complete upgrade to EHP6 and subsequent testing to use eclipse and ensure the system is unaffected? Thanks much, -Chris

      Hi Chris,

unfortunately you can’t really split upgrade of the BASIS / ABA Software Component from the rest. If you like to give ABAP in Eclipse a try you could check out the free offerings in the Cloud Appliance Library and there are rumours that there will be also a download edition for an ABAP System again. In your company you should aim for an upgrade Project for ERP EhP 7 which will then be based on the 7.40 release of the ABAP Application Server.

      Best regards
