I wanted to upgrade 640_ext2 kernel release to patch level 247, its a non-unicode, oracle 10g DB, AIX platform. Its a basic question just wanted to confirm one thing. For this upgrade I have downloaded SAPEXE_247-10004674.SAR, SAPEXEDB_247-10004670.SAR and no latest dbtools SAR file available, someone suggested me not to download SAPEXEDB as its not relevant and instead downloand disp+work package, please suggest.
Our SAP installation is as follows:
EHP 4 for SAP ERP 6.0 /7.0
OS= Win 2003 SR2
DB= Oracle 10.2.0.2.0
Kernel level = 15
The issue is we are trying to upgrade our kernel , the upgrade goes fine , the system is up and running after the upgrade. However after 20 minutes or less the kernel goes back to its previous level before the upgrade without any human intervention.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
We are using EP 6.0 with Oracle 10g database.We have 1 dialog instance,1 Central instance and 1 SCS instance.Every instance has its own exe directory.Beside these in SYS/exe/run also there are executables.Parameter DIR_CT_RUN is SYS/exe/run.
I have downloaded SAPEXE and SAPEXEDB files from Marketplace for Upgrade.
Now my concern is in which directory I should replace exe to upgrade the kernel.I also want to know significance of parameter DIR_CT_RUN.
I also found that there are less number of files in instance exe directory than SYS/exe/run.
For performing Kernel Upgrade on Unix, do I need to login as root at any point in time?
If yes, during which specific task?
Also, can that specific task be done by <sid>adm?
I remember doing Kernel Upgrade only with <sid>adm and it went fine. I mean I think I even executed “saproot.sh” as <sid>adm.
Is that not recommended in any way?
